Beshear filing

FRANKFORT- Attorney General Andy Beshear, D-Kentucky, has officially filed to run for governor.

Shortly after filing his paperwork with running mate Educator Jacqueline Coleman, he called for more transparency, specifically dealing with tax returns.

“It’s about returning honesty,  decency and transparency to this building and all of state government,” Beshear said. “We filed our papers today, which I think is only one part of the filing that Kentuckians deserve. That’s why I’m calling on all candidates of this office, both governor and lieutenant governor, to pledge to release their tax returns for the past two years.”

Beshear has called on Gov. Matt Bevin to release his taxes in the past, which Bevin has not done.

Beshear’s campaign say both he and Coleman will be publicly releasing their 2018 taxes this year.

Statement from Adam Edelen:

“I’m running for Governor and I’m happy to release my tax returns. My running mate, who is filing every single financial disclosure required by law, has a concern over his family’s privacy and I respect that.

Kentuckians also ought to know that I’m the only candidate in this race who has pledged that I won’t take a dime of PAC money. Kentucky can be confident real people, not special interests or faceless PACs, are fueling our movement.”

Statement from Courtney Daniel, Communications Director for Rocky Adkins

“Rocky will be a transparent governor. You can see that from the detailed financial disclosures he has filed over the years as a legislative leader. Anyone running for the governor’s office should release their tax returns.”
