Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins labels the in-person voting response at eight locations around Lexington as, quote, “ok so far.”  The early voting sites in three libraries, two schools, a community college campus site, plus the Senior and Dunbar Centers have been open since mid-October.

Blevins hopes for a bigger response this week. “What I would like to see is a very strong push.  We’ve got some ground to make up this week if we want to avoid having a crowd on Election Day.  So, I really need for people that haven’t voted to go ahead and do it now.  Don’t wait until Election Day, if you can,” said Blevins.

Blevins said about three-quarters of requested absentee ballots have been received in his office.  The county clerk noted it’s shaping up where some winners may be known on Election night.  “The statewide races are more likely to have sort of a clear answer on Election night just because of the volume.  So, if there’s a good distance between two candidates at the statewide level, then you can probably feel pretty comfortable about calling the race,” explained Blevins.

The in-person voting spots are open 8:30 to 4:00 during the week and 9:00 to 1:00 on Saturday.  And the county clerk added his staff has been able to eliminate any backlog of absentee ballots.
