Governor Matt Bevin has told Attorney General Andy Beshear that he intends to alter his executive order reorganizing education boards by Friday, June 16, according to a press release from Beshear’s office.

Last week Beshear announced that he would give the Governor a week to rescind an order dissolving and reorganizing eight education boards or he would pursue legal action.

“My hope is that the governor has reviewed the Constitution and Kentucky law, and has realized he does not have ‘absolute authority’ over independent state boards,” Beshear said in a statement. “I will wait until Friday, but I stand ready to defend the Constitution of the governor fails to abide by it.”

Bevin’s press secretary did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
