HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WKYT) — Attorney General Andy Beshear has teamed up with Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey to host a summit aimed at fighting back against the Tri-State region’s opioid crisis.
The meeting coined as, “Taking Back Our Communities: Combating the Opiate Epidemic” was held Thursday morning at the New Life Church in Huntington, West Virginia. The meeting brought together citizens, law enforcement, counselors, educators and faith-based groups to work together and tackle the Tri-State’s current drug epidemic.
The “Taking Back Our Communities” meeting focused on stopping the spread of opioids by providing an outlet for attendees to collaborate, share information and support Good Samaritan laws by assisting those affected by drug addiction.
“The problem of drug addiction doesn’t stop at our state lines, which is why it’s critically important that neighboring states like Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia work together to combat this problem as a team,” Attorney General Mike DeWine said.
