Tomorrow you can help decide not only if Governor Bevin will keep his job or if Attorney General Beshear will take his seat, but on several other state and local offices. Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins Jr. says they are fully staffed and ready to open the polls at 6:00 am Tuesday, all they need is you. “Be sure and bring ID because you always have to have proof of identification. It would be nice if you could go and look at a sample ballot on one of your county clerk’s websites so you know exactly who you’re going to vote for before you come in and then please come and vote. We’re open and ready for you.”

Last week Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes predicted a voter turnout of just over 30%. Blevins told me he’s seeing the same trends but that it’s a difficult number to pinpoint. “Our absentee counts are up just a little which is partly why she also raised her estimates slightly. I want to caution everyone that Allison is doing all you can do with Kentucky estimates and that is to go on history but in the last ten years, Kentuckians have become extremely random about turnout. They don’t follow the historical trends anymore. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we have 28% turnout or 35% turnout. Either one can happen. It all depends on things like the weather as you know and the rancor and motivation of voters. So I hope to see a stronger voter turnout than that but I won’t be surprised either way.”
