Kentucky Congressman James Comer discussed healthcare in the first district with President Donald Trump on Air Force One to and from Louisville on Monday.
In a release, the Republican congressman thanked the president for working to “repeal and replace Obamacare.” In the rally Monday night, Trump thanked Comer for his support.
Comer’s Communications Director Michael Gossum said the congressman plans on voting for the American Health Care Act. Gossum said in a statement to WKMS “Congressman Comer has said many times; Obamacare has been a complete failure and is unsustainable. The American Health Care Act is the first step of a three-part process to repeal and replace Obamacare.”
Trump called the Affordable Care Act a “complete and total catastrophe” and said to those opposed to the proposed GOP American Health Care Act “the alternative is what you have, what you have is nothing, the worst, it’s the big lie.”
A House vote on the new health care plan is expected on March 23.
Congressman Comer is holding a series of town hall events across the regionbeginning this Friday in Paducah.
