(LEX 18) A state representative is accused of illegally transporting alcohol.

Wesley Morgan owns several liquor stores and was elected in the State House in November. His ethics have been called into question since he proposed six alcohol-related bills that could benefit his stores. One would require wholesalers to deliver within a week. Another would make it easier for liquor dealers to transport their goods between stores. Many of the bills Morgan proposed went out to committee in February.

He has been cited for illegal transport or delivery of alcohol. The police report says that after officers received a tip about a man loading large amounts of liquor, they pulled Morgan over. The report also says that Barbourville police found assorted alcohol hidden in his truck bed.

Morgan has not returned out calls.

When he spoke with LEX 18 back in January, he said he was not proposing the bills for personal gain, but to help small business owners

According to the citation, Morgan is due in court on May 15th.
