BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Students with an associate of applied science degree can earn an affordable professional bachelor’s degree in work force administration from Western Kentucky University in as little as 15 months.
“The WFA has been designed to support the unique needs of transfer and adult students,” said Jeff Butterfield, director of WKU’s School of Professional Studies. “The major focuses on developing supervisory and managerial skills to complement the associate’s degree program of study. The target student is someone who has completed an AAS degree, is working in their occupational field, and would like to advance their career by seeking an administrative role with their organization.”
The WFA is a fully online program with each class taught in five-week blocks, allowing students to start the program any time.
“Taking one class at a time makes college so much easier to manage,” Butterfield said. “You only have one class, one assignment, one schedule, one quiz to study for. This is the way adult learners do the best.”
Courses include personnel supervision, talent development, customer service, managerial skills and related technology.
Students with an AAS degree in any field from a Kentucky Community and Technical College System institution will receive the WFA Scholarship. That scholarship includes $250 per credit hour tuition, zero textbook costs and guaranteed seats for required WFA courses. This makes the WFA the most affordable bachelor’s degree of any public university in Kentucky, Butterfield said.
Students who have completed their general education requirements can complete the WFA program in 15 months, Butterfield said.
